Upgrading and Migrating IBM RAD

                          INTRODUCTION
Upgrading and Migrating

When we say upgrading it means to raise to a higher standard and higher level. It basically means improving a hardware device that provides greater performance than an earlier model or software that that provides added enhancements over an earlier version.

When we say migrating it means to change or to move location periodically, especially by moving seasonally from one place to another. A change from one hardware or software technology to another. Migration is a way of life in the computer industry. It also means moving data and applications from one computer to another.

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
The main reason and purpose of the study is to show how to upgrade the software IBM RAD into the newer versions and even to downgrade to older versions. Also the purpose of the study is to show how migrating of files from old to new versions happen.

These are the following objectives that the researcher would like to achieve:

1.  To be able to improve the users experience with the software.
2.  To be able to expand the knowledge about IBM RAD
3.  To be able to show how upgrading and migrating works.
4.  To be updated
5.  To learn and adopt the new features

                           METHODS
I gathered information through researching in the internet, looking at books in the library and by interviewing someone that knew something about the IBM RAD upgrading and migrating.

DISCUSSION
Upgrading refers to replace software or hardware with an upgrade. It is improving or progressing and to replace existing software or hardware with a newer version. generally meaning a replacement of hardware, software or firmware with a newer or better version, in order to bring the system up to date or to improve its characteristics.

Conclusion
Based on the study, upgrading is a way of life in any developing software. By means of upgrading we expand the capabilities of the software we upgrade. We learn new features that give us the good benefits. When upgrading they don’t just add some features, they also enhance the software, the speed and the look. The main goal of upgrading is to continue to work our project created in the old version to the latest version. Upgrading still depends on whether the user wanted to upgrade or he is already satisfied with what version he had. But whenever he wanted to open his files using the newer version, it can be possible but still depends on what version you are using.
